The “Dells” has been a popular summer vacation destination for more than a hundred years.
Dells come from a french word that means slab like rock. The water appears to be red due to tannic acid that comes from the roots of trees. The water is not dirty the coloring is harmless. We took a wonderful 2 hour boat ride. The cost was about $35 per person. There are many other things to do in the Dells. Water parks, shopping, dining, and a ride on one of the “Ducks” are popular. A duck in the Dells is an amphibious World War 2 vessel that drives on land and then the water. I have done that in the past so passed on it this time.
We camped in Rocky Arbor State park. Cost was $20 midweek and $25 weekends. It was very nice with trees everywhere. Showers and other facilities were well kept. Our only complaint was the traffic noise from the I94 freeway. We were in the area to visit my friend Jon I wrote about in a previous post.
I have been having difficulties posting photos using this WordPress software on the site. Once I figure that out my posts will have more graphics.
